MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF GOA STATE INNOVATION COUNCIL HELD AT DON BOSCO COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING CONFERENCE HALL ON 11.11.2019 AT 9.30 A.M.

Dr. Mridula Goel, Shri Kunal Upadhyay & Dr. Kaustubh Priolkar could not attend the meeting and were granted leave of absence.  Thereafter, the Chairman welcomed the members of the Goa State Innovation Council for the meeting.

  1. At the outset, the minutes of the meeting held on 23rd August 2019 were read and confirmed after which the agenda of the meeting was discussed. 
  • Project Officer reported the action taken on the discussion of the previous meeting. Faculty Development Program was conducted on 13th, 14th, 20th & 21st Sept 2019 at BITS Pilani, Goa Campus. The total number of participants for the program were 30 faculty from the colleges. An IPR Session on patent search was conducted on 24th Sept 2019 at Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi with 101 number of participants. Women Centric Workshop on Innovation and Startups was conducted at Carmel College for Women, Nuvem on 26th Sept 2019 with 450 number of girls participants. The Award ceremony of Goa’s Young Innovator’s Award 2018-19 and inauguration of the Prototyping Lab was held on 1st Oct 2019 at Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda. Project Officer also informed that a Session on Introduction to Robotics was conducted on 1st Oct 2019 for 40 school students. The Orientation Programs for Headmasters & School Teachers from North Goa were conducted on 3rd & 5th Oct 2019 at Sanskruti Bhavan, Panaji. The Orientation Programs for Headmasters & School Teachers from South Goa was conducted on 10th & 11th Oct 2019 at Ravindra bhavan, Margao. Project Officer also reported that the total number of 2834 students had attended the Sensitisation Workshops from 28 schools and the total number of 866 students had attended the Bootcamp on Innovation from 10 Colleges.
  • During the discussion on Goa’s Young Innovators Award 2019-20, it was decided to invite the Hon’ble Minister for Science & Technology to launch the competition.

 

  • During the discussion on organising Hackathon to identify Innovative solutions in Waste Management, the following challenges faced in Solid Waste Management Corporation were presented.
    • Segregation of Dry Waste & reduction/ elimination of moisture from RDF( Refuse Derived Fuel)
    • Removal of Solid Waste from Surface water bodies for eg. Rivers, Lakes, Ponds.
    • Disposal of tubelights, LED's and CFL bulbs in scientific manner.
    • Disposal of Sanitary Pads and Diapers in scientific manner.
  • It was suggested by the council members to conduct the Hackathon in the first week of Feb 2020.  It was further decided to invite the Hon’ble Chief Minister to meet the participants. Member Secretary suggested funding the projects through the Goa Rajya Puraskar Scheme of Department of Science & Technology, Government of Goa
  • The Council decided to invite 2 schools from each talukas with a boy & a girl from each school to attend the workshop on Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy.
  • The members of the council approved the Risk Capital Session of Venture Capital Funding and it was decided to conduct the session at Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi on 18th Dec 2019.
  • The meeting ended with the vote of thanks.
