• While discussing the minutes of the third meeting of the Goa State Innovation Council, it was pointed out that a proper mechanism was needed to be designed for the smooth transfer of funds from the college accounts to the student individual accounts once the project was selected for funding. The Director of Science and Technology is to initiate this process.

• While discussing the establishment of the secretariat of the Council, the Director of Science and Technology informed that grants amounting to Rs. 5 lakhs was made available to the college and it was directed to the Principal of Don Bosco College of Engineering that necessary arrangements of the establishment of the secretariat be made including appointment of ‘Project Officer’ and ‘Secretarial Assistant’. It was further informed that these posts be filled after advertisement calling applications for a walk in interview. While further discussing the matter it was proposed that if all the facilities were provided and in place the secretariat could be formally inaugurated around the end of October 2017.

• It was decided to create a dedicated website for the Goa State Innovation Council so that all the activities of the Council are made known to the public. It was also decided to call for quotations for the designing and uploading of this website from entities empanelled with the Government of Goa and Directorate of Information Technology.

• The Student Project Competition was discussed in detail. The council was also updated about the initiative of Directorate of Technical Education and Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry to promote industry linked student projects. It was proposed to link the existing schemes of Department of Science and Technology, Government of Goa for funding of student projects. It was also decided to organise a competition for best projects in Polytechnics and Engineering Colleges in Goa and award the best projects with a support prize. It was decided to award a total of approximately twenty projects within an allocated budget of 10 lacs.

• It was informed by the Chairman that he would have a discussion with the Chairman of Economic Development Corporation regarding the mobilisation for organising the next edition of the Chief Ministers’ Startup Challenge for the year 2018.

• Members proposed that a unique logo be designed for the Goa State Innovation Council and for this purpose it was decided to approach the Goa College of Art through the Director of Science and Technology requesting for an appropriate design.

• While discussing the need to promote innovation and also to encourage a larger number of students and faculty from various institutions to participate in the process of innovation, it was decided to organise boot camps in Engineering college and Polytechnics and also to conduct faculty development programmes for faculty of various colleges for the wider dissemination of information on innovation and the various facilities provided by the State Government to promote Startups etc.
